In this bathroom remodel, located in Minneapolis, we completed the demolition by removing everything down to the existing framing. We inspected the framing for water damage, installed new insulation, and installed a new window. Our Minneapolis clients wanted to have a window in the bathroom for light, but also wanted the privacy so we installed a prefabricated Hy-Lite acrylic block window.
After the new bathtub was installed, we prepped the bathtub and shower for tile. The homeowner selected white subway tile with a glass mosaic trim. We installed three niches in the shower, which were trimmed out with the glass mosaic trim.
On the floor, we installed 12 inch x 12 inch tile set in a diagonal pattern. To tie the bathroom together we set a patterned accent in the floor design with the same glass mosaic tile that was used in the shower.
When designing the bathroom with our clients, we established a design that would require moving the toilet and vanity to make better use of the space. In the existing design, the toilet was located by the bathroom door and pedestal sink was located by the bathtub. In the new design, we moved the toilet over by the bathtub, installed a dual flush toilet, and will be installing a new 34-inch vanity with a granite countertop and an under mount sink by the door.
